Seven Kimberley North Star Ski Racers traveled to Panorama to compete in several Giant Slalom (GS) ski races on January 7th and 8th. All Kootenay Zone clubs of Fernie, Kimberley, Red Mountain and Whitewater attended the race. Team Panorama, an Alberta based club also competed in the races as the race was held at their home hill. This race is one of two qualifying races for K1 girls and boys (ages 11 and 12) who reside within the Kootenay Zone for the BC Winter Games. The second qualifying race will be held on January 14th and 15th at Kimberley Alpine Resort and the athletes will be racing slalom.

K1 Female--- 32 competitor field and 5 races over 2 days
Taylor Kahl--8th, 6th, 15th, 15th, 16th
Andrea Lockhart--7th, 15th, 5th, 4th, 13th
Bronwyn Damm--24th, 25th, 26th, 24th, 22nd
K1 Male--34 competitor field and 5 races over 2 days
Jamie Casselman --4th, 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 4th
(Jamie also received the most medals of any athlete participating as he received most improved in 3 of the 5 races.)
K2 Female--19 competitor field and 3 races over 2 days
Zoe Chore--10th
Morgan Kerr- 17th, 18th, 19th
K2 Male--29 competitor field and 3 races over 2 days
Aidan Gilbert--5th
The public are invited to cheer on our local athletes January 14th and 15th at Kimberley Alpine Resort.
Congratulations to Katie Grady, North Star Ski Cross Racer who won her division at Silver Mountain in Kellogg Idaho on Saturday January 7. Last year Katie qualified for the National USA SA in Colorado and came 2nd. Her next event will be in Mt. Washington later this month.
North Star Racer India Sherret has left for the Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria to represent Canada in Ski Cross (listed under Free Style). The following fees pertain to the BASE Program fees, this includes the home coaching costs, BC Alpine membership fees, and ACA Insurance fees. This season families will not be required to sell BC Alpine GM Raffle Tickets, we will add $50 per family toward a chance at $450 toward your registration cost. This will be added at registration of your child's program.
Additional costs will be charged for away-from-home events and special camps that may be advertised throughout the season.
